ANOTHER BUSY WEEK IT HAS BEEN IN PRIMARY SIX!


This week has been busy,we have done a lot of things including painting our Viking longboats and creating our sails and masts.Also we have watched a very important video about Little Rock. This was when the blacks stood up to the whites for the right to go to school. During the week we have being writing a lot of stories like a story called 'The Elephant Train' and one using a set of pictures as a stimulus.Today was a very important day, because our school was holding a dress down day and cake and candy day for Macmillan Cancer Support. All of us have worked really hard on our stories this week and we have finished every single one and the table that won the pebble points were Jennie,Cailan,Sacha and Ibraheem's table.So well done to that table. In our RE we were learning about the Beatitudes and they are very important because they are the words of Jesus.

A short but hectic week!

Considering its been a short week, we have packed in alot! In writing we wrote an imagined personal response about being a monk or Viking at the raid on Lindesfarne and then recorded them, which you will be able to listen to right here on the blog next week. We also made Viking longships.

In maths, we have been learning different ways to add up to 100 or 1000 using the empty number line and the zig zag method. We learnt about the differences of the metric and imperial systems in measurement. Did you know that an inch is roughly 2.5cm and is the length of your knuckle to the tip of your thumb finger?

We had someone from Scottish Power come to the school and tell us about safe use of electricity.

Overall, it's been an exciting week!

Phew! What an exhausting week we've had in P6. Everybody has worked realy hard and earned all their Golden time. We have learned about many things this week. We looked at a timeline of British history and where the Vikings come in history. We also learned about Nelson Mandela because he is terminally ill and is in the news a lot these days. He was arrested many times for the good of South Africa. We learned a lot from watching a short movie on the Vikings. Did you know that the Vikings never wore horn on their helmets? In R.E., we had an interesting lesson on sacrifice and what Jesus sacrificed for us.

The highlight was our special drama that we performed on the life of St. Cuthbert. The reason for our performance was to celebrate his feast day.

We've had a really busy week and we hope next week is as good as this week. Enjoy your weekend and stay tuned to our blog which we update weekly.
